My Story
About Me!
“Your body is a precious gift. It would be a pleasure to help you look after it."
My name is Amara and I am a licensed cupping/hijama practitioner. I have been practising this therapy for just over 8 years.
I gained an undergraduate degree in Psychology and then achieved an MSc in Health Psychology. I qualified in the practice of cupping/hijama in 2015. I am also currently undertaking a diet and nutrition course.
My passion is in all aspects related to health. Seeing the positive effects that cupping/hijama and lifestyle changes have had on my clients and family is very rewarding.
The use of essential oils are a large part of my life. As a family, these powerful natural oils and hijama/cupping are our first point of call when we are ill. Essential oil usage is safe, natural and actually aid the body in recovering. Hence, they are also used during your treatment sessions to aid relaxation and to awaken the olfactory system.
What is Hijama?
“Hijama” literally means “sucking” in Arabic and is also known as "Wet Cupping".
Dry Cupping
Small suction cups are used to generate a suction under a vacuum. As the cups are gently massaged around the area being treated, this vacuum encourages the flow of blood and energy to the joints, muscles and also stimulates the sensory nerves.
Wet Cupping / Hijama
After the Dry Cupping treatment, small incisions/scratches are made on the skin area that was suctioned. The suction pressure under the cup stimulates the toxic or unhealthy blood and metabolic waste products to trickle out and cleanse the diseased or inflamed area.
Why Hijama?
Muscles: Stimulates blood flow and lymphatic drainage.
Skin: Improved metabolism in skin tissue, better functioning of sebaceous and sweat glands.
Joints: Increased blood flow and secretion of synovial fluid.
Digestive system: Increased peristalsis and secretion of digestive fluids, better digestion and excretion.
Blood: Improved blood circulation, improved functioning of RBC and WBC.
Nervous System: Stimulates sensory nerves of skin, Improves ANS.
Hijama therapy is an excellent way to detoxify the body. It can also help improve many health conditions. The following are a list of examples:
Gout, hypertension, weight loss, thyroid issues, arthritis, IBS, heart disease, headaches/migraines, back/neck pain, constipation diabetes, menopausal issues, infertility, irregular periods, etc.
